Millesimato Prosecco - single vintage

The very latest 2019 Vintage

This is a single vintage Prosecco coming from the specific Denominazione di Origine Controlla region of Treviso in the Veneto region to the west of Venice. Due to its popularity there is a plethora of cheap Prosecco on the market, much of it from inferior I.G.T. classified regions. It is far better to pay that little bit extra and get a far superior wine.

Produced solely from the Glera (Prosecco) grape grown in the Treviso area where the clay subsoil has a presence of calcareous concretions. It is the typicity of these vineyards which gives the final wine its minerality, so lacking in cheaper Proseccos. The fruit underwent temperature controlled vinification before maturation in pressure tanks. The resultant wine was then bottled under pressure to retain all the bubbles.

A good proportion of Prosecco on the market is non-vintage, a blend of different and often inferior years, but "Ducalis" Prosecco is labelled as "Millesimato", the product of a single year - in this instance 2019.

This is therefore a youthful and fresh Prosecco but at the same time, elegant and complex. Bright and clean, with a good mousse, intense and persistent. The nose has the aromas of white flowers, also hints of rennet apples and pineapple, and a fragrant hint of bread crust and yeast. These flavours are carried through to the palate, which also has good acidity and that added minerality.
